Weekend Stuff

Happy Monday Everyone!!

I was sick again last week and into the weekend and have been sleeping an insane amount of hours. A co-worker said, "maybe you have Mono," and now I'm convinced that I do. Or maybe it's the swine flu again. Or SH*T, maybe it's something really serious like leukemia. Or maybe I should actually go SEE a Doctor and stop diagnosing myself!!

I did manage to peel myself out of bed long enough to celebrate Yiayia's 85th birthday on Sunday. This is all of the grandchildren, and yes, that is Yiayia throwing back some champagne.

Here is one of Yiayia and her two daughters - That's my mom on the left. It was absolutely impossible to get the three of them to STOP TALKING long enough to take a picture. This is the best one I could snap.

I managed to catch Brian and Cosmo sharing a very special moment in the living room.

And finally a picture of Yiayia and I. My parents divorced when I was very young, and instead of being raised by Mom & Dad, I was raised by Mom & Yiayia. I spent hours upon hours playing with Yiayia. Yiayia taught me how to knit, crochet, and cross stitch. We baked Greek cookies together, watched old movies, and played hide & seek. One of my fondest memories was when I was still small enough to hide in the wicker laundry hamper. She couldn't see me, but I could see her frantically trying to find me for a good 30 minutes. I eventually had to reveal my hiding spot when she gave up her search and sat down to read the newspaper. She thought it was hysterical when I popped out of the hamper declaring, "I'm in here!" It wasn't so funny when we moved hide & seek outside, and I hid in the car out in the garage. She paced up and down the street asking the neighbors if they had seen me. When I jumped out of the car declaring, "I'm in here," she grabbed me by the shirt and dragged me inside. I think I was punished for that one.....

Yiayia saw me off for the prom, was at all of my dance recitals, cheerleading competitions and graduations. The four of us ate dinner every night: my mom, my sister, me and Yiayia. She would ask me how my day was, and would got a kick out of all the funny stories that happened at school that day. When Brian and I approached her with the news of our engagement, she hugged me at the waist with tears in her eyes and said, "No, you can't have her, she's ours." I can't imagine life without Yiayia, because she has been there for every good and bad experience. She pulled Brian and I aside yesterday and gave us our first marriage advice:

"You know, it's 50/50. Both of you, 50/50. But sometimes you have to give her 75, and you 50. It's easier sometimes to just give her 75."

Grammatically it doesn't make sense - but we knew what she meant. Giving the wife her way, sometimes just makes things easier.

Thanks Yiayia :)

Happy Birthday. Love you!

October Featured Blog - Bring On The Cute!!

I just realized that I never posted a September featured blog.

Guess I'll just have to jump to October!

That's me and my BFF from college, Ashley. She's a mommy now -the little man: that's Kingston.

Kingston already has his own blog: written by, produced by, and starring Kingston. This site is overflowing with gooey cuteness, so be prepared!

Home. Goods.

Decorating a new house is FUN!!! Picking things out that are an equal balance of two separate tastes isn't always so fun. I've been fortunate that the things I've picked out for the house Brian seems to like as well. I'm always concerned I'm going to lean towards decorative accessories that might be too feminine for a male/female shared home, so when I pick out something and he says, "yeah, I like that," I always sigh in relief.

During a trip to Crate & Barrel, I spotted this:
"What do you think?" I cautiously ask.

Moment of silence followed by a nod "Yeah, I like it."

So I talked my Mom into buying it for us for Christmas....but giving it to us now. THANKS MOM!

We have yet to light a fire this season, but I've put putting candles in the fireplace for now.

My next purchase is this:
My next home renovation project is the upstairs bathroom. I've already obtained approval from Brian to make this my Spa/Relaxation bathroom. Not so sure that the ruffly shower curtain is going to fly, but an approval is an approval.

Painting begins the end of the month!

Monday Stuff

Why is it that the week takes soooooooo long to get to Friday, but Monday seems to come so quickly?

Well Monday is here yet again. I was super busy last week with work, and school. This week will be a lot of the same. I did manage to get my hair cut and colored. I'll post those pictures later this week.

Other than that, I got nothing.

Well. I do have something: I can't get this damn song out of my head. I keep singing the chorus over and over again, and Brian is threatening to move out if I don't stop.

Have a great Monday everyone!

WTF? Friday

Note to self: Items of clothing that you find appealing on the internet because they look fabulous on some 6'5, 92lb model might not be as appealing on you. Okay?

My lunchtime jaunt to the mall to buy this.....

.....was as successful as a quadriplegic performing a root canal.

Have you ever attempted to wrap cottage cheese in a lycra burrito? Well trying on this dress is comparable. Really bad clingage around the butt, too much drapy loosage around the boobs. I was a tranny trainwreck all up in that store.

HOWEVER - had I been trying out for the Flavor of Love show wearing that dress, I would have been a front running contestant. I probably would have even been given a really nice a*s flattering nickname. Something like, "Boom Boom Pow," or "BootyTasteeLicious." But since I live a very non-ghetto fabulous existence, I had to pass on this disastrous ensemble.

I'm still getting the shoes though. Helllllllllllls ya!!!

Things I'm LOVING

Ok. So I didn't hit the gym first thing yesterday morning.

I'm a big morning-worker-outer liar. I just can't do it. Just. Can't. Do. It.

**BUT**

I haven't eaten past 8 o'clock. Small victory, but a victory just the same.

I've decided that if I do lose that one eensy, weensy, teensy little pound I'm going to buy this:

Um...and these:

And I'm thinking I'm going to chop my hair again, and go blond....like this:

That's the Channel 7 news lady. She usually sports this with a middle part, and I absolutely love it.

So I'm thinking the haircut will take place sometime this month. However, I think I'm going to just go ahead and buy the dress tomorrow on my lunch break. Maybe if I buy the dress now - I'll have more motivation to stick to my weight loss plan and actually lose for next week.....

....maybe....
