Goin' To The Chapel!!

I've been missing in action.....but I have a very good excuse....
Last Friday Brian gave me this:It's been a WHIRLWIND of a week!!!! I'm still waiting for someone to say, "Time to give the ring back, play time is over." This picture doesn't capture just how beautiful the ring really is - I tried to take a closer picture, but the ring would just blur....

This weekend we decided to head into Boston for an overnight stay. We started the evening with a romantic dinner. Filet mignon, lobster tails, lava cake, vodka, and each other....

Then we headed out with friends for some drinking, dancing, and straight up celebrating!

I never knew being this happy was within my reach!

More details to come.......

Battle Of The Bulge

Being in a loving, healthy, and trusting relationship is fabulous for my self-esteem, my confidence, and my overall well being. I've never been this happy.

On the flip side - being this happy is adding on the pounds. I'm eating more, moving less, indulging in things I wouldn't normally indulge in (lots of ice cream, lots of deserts, lots of food in general) and my clothes are feeling more and more snug. Brian says I look amazing, and I shouldn't change a thing. Although his words are comforting, I don't FEEL amazing. I feel tight, and bloated, and uncomfortable, yet I continue to eat, and eat, and eat some more. I'm not eating because I'm hungry - I'm just eating for the sake of eating.

Last night at Weight Watchers I weighed in at a whopping 153.6 - a far cry from my once svelte 137 pounds.

I don't expect to get down that low - I would love it, but I doubt I have the discipline to achieve it. I'd be happy with 140.

My motivation in the past to lose weight was usually a shmuck boyfriend that made me feel less than worthy. I felt that I would lose said boyfriend to another girl if I didn't stay slim and trim. Brian loves me for me, which is an amazing feeling - but I've become too comfortable, and my weight is creeping up.

I know I'm getting engaged soon - but not sure when. I'm hoping that an impending engagement and wedding to follow will serve as new motivation to get back into shape, to move more, and make better food choices.

Time will tell.
I'm not happy with the recent choices I've been making as far as food is concerned - but I am HAPPY. And that's what matters most!

August Featured Blog

Now and then I try to discover new fabulous blogs to read. I've decided to feature a new blog every month in order to spread the fabulous-ness....

I accidentally came across Vittles a few weeks back, and I've been hooked. I am a complete novice when it comes to matters of the kitchen. I can microwave and boil successfully but anything beyond that is left to chance. The recipes featured on this site seem delicious and executable even if you require a detailed map to navigate even the most basic of kitchens. I've yet to try making these recipes, but I'm dying to attempt the the baby molten cakes. Any food that has "molten" or "cake" in it's title makes me and my tummy excited!

In the meantime I spend my time perusing this site, salivating over the pictures, and imagining what my kitchen would look like after attempting to make one of these recipes. I must brag - I haven't set the new kitchen on fire yet - I may have stunk up the place with some burnt eggs last weekend - but no fires.

Check it out!!

Meow

As many of you may or may not know, I am very fond of cats.

Very fond.

I currently own two kitties, and volunteer every other weekend at MRFRS; a no-kill, no-cage kitty shelter.

Don't get me wrong, I love dogs too - and bunnies, and ponies - pretty much anything furry and fluffy on four legs. But I really, REALLY love me some kitties. I'd have more if Brian would let me. For now, two is enough.

And yes, I carry a brag book of pictures in order to show off my two little darlings. Many call me Crazy Cat Lady, but after viewing the following video, I don't even come close:

Who you calling Crazy Cat Lady now???

Options

Oh my holy VOMIT.

*SIGH*

I'm not even sure where to begin with this one.....

I'll start here - I'm angry with myself - angry that I'm actually taking the time out of my day to give this family and situation MORE attention. I'm angry that I'm still following and reading articles that profile the trainwreck that is Jon & Kate Plus 8.

I just can't help it.

I highly DOUBT that the parents of this girl are all, "Yeah, SUUUUUUUURE, great guy!!! Please date him. You'd be a great stepmother someday to his EIGHT CHILDREN. You have our blessing."

I don't think so.

The quote that sent me over the edge was this: "I told him life is about options."

Yes, my dear life is about options. Jon opted to make the ultimate commitment and marry Kate. He opted to undergo IVF not once, but twice. He opted to have all 8 of his children. He also opted to put himself, his wife, and his children on television for the entire world to view and judge. He also opted out ..... out of the situation that he opted to create in the first place.

Yes, life is about options. And he opted to be a scumbag.

Your thoughts?

Happy Stuff

In light of all the crap that is going in the world - Michael Jackson dying, Farrah Fawcett dying, Jon & Kate separating, the piss poor economy, etc., I decided to post some cheer......

This is Brian and I at his sister's rehearsal dinner. He calls this my Dorothy dress. I call that his boring blue shirt....

This is cocktail hour at the wedding - I'm wearing the same dress I wore to my college graduation, 2 years ago.

Ok fine....college graduation .... 7 years ago, but who is counting?? The dress still fits (snugly, and with a pair of spanks) and that's all that matters...

This picture is in the midst of heavy drinking.....

Have a good one :)
