Pass The Vapo -Rub

I'm sick.

Blech.

A few weeks back I had that weird stomach thingy that lasted a few days. Now it's a full on head cold and I'm phlegmy and coughy and sniffly and overall exuding zero sex appeal. My job requires that I'm in and out of physician's offices and hospitals all day, so I'm sure I brought home this current illness from work. I'm one of those people that does not believe in taking cold remedies and instead I resort to all natural means of relieving cold symptoms such as hot drinks, chicken soup, and Vitamin C. My mom recommends spiking my tea with some whiskey. My grandmother recommends rubbing my chest down with the oh so aromatic Vick's Vapo-Rub. Everyone seems to have some sort of recommendation that they swear works to ward off the evil symptoms associated with the common cold.

So what steps do you take to rid yourself of being sick? Drugs? Herbs? Nasty smelling rubs? I'm open to suggestions.

  2. Netti pot? Now that is an attractive one (NOSE IRRIGATION) but it works Whiskey and Vick's don't sound so bad either.
    Hope you feel better soon!

  3. Antibiotics! Tried the netti pot recently. Felt it must be similar to waterboarding. I swear I almost drowned in my own bathroom!

  4. Awww you poor dear! Being sick is the worst.

I don't have any tried and true remedies except one - for sore throats. Organic Throat Coat tea from Traditional Medicinals. It seriously makes my throat feel better than anything else - including this medicated (and disgusting) gargle the doctor prescribed for me.

Doesn't sound like you have a sore throat, so that is a totally useless tip! You're welcome!

    Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Sounds like it's a little late for Emergen-C, but the stuff is amazing! I hate all the over-the-counter crap that masks your symptoms. They end up making me feel worse. I just drink lots of fluids and vegg. Rest ma dear and you'll feel better soon.
